"Caldera … beneath me" is a journal of my awakened awareness of my own geography in Idaho. It includes volcanic Craters of the Moon, Yellowstone geysers, and dramatic geology surrounding my home. The solar eclipse, traversing Idaho, resonated with my sense of respect for the natural universe that enfolds us all. Nearby earthquakes reminded me that I do indeed live above an immense caldera that reminds humans of its presence. Somehow I find this comforting. Rumbling beneath me, spewing its gasses and steam above me, I am cradled by it. This book uses drum leaf structure and mixed materials in combination with letterpress printing and a glass lens for the front cover. I have employed inkless letterpress text in the endpages that quietly lists my context: craters, rift, gap, eclipse, lava flow, fissures and black rock.
